<image:title>Our Pānui - Homai Haumaru: Give Me Shelter - The Hori Gallery brings Rangatahi Voices to Pātaka - Grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā, the works reflect the four pou of wellbeing – taha tinana, taha hinengaro, taha wairua, and taha whānau. As Hori explains, “Each whare acknowledges the four walls that support our wellbeing… if one of those walls are out, the whare starts to shake.”</image:title>
<image:caption>A central kaupapa of the exhibition draws on the movement between Te Pō and Te Ao Mārama – darkness and light - reframing difficult experiences not as something to fear, but as a space for growth, potential and creativity. “Te Pō is not a place to fear because you actually learn a lot about yourself when you are in those spaces,” Hori reflects. For Mana College kaiako Brittany Buttenshaw, the impact on students was immediate, saying they had responded well to the opportunity to interact with a revered Ngāti Toa artist.</image:caption>

<image:caption>We’re all products of our upbringing and I had the good fortune to be born into loving whānau on both sides of my Pākehā and Ngāti Toa whānau. I didn’t then, and still don’t, take that for granted but what I have come to appreciate is the potential that lies within whānau, hapū, hapori and iwi, as agents for change – as determined by them. Having worked and travelled through a large part of my twenties, I went back to university later that decade with the idea of being the next Merata Mita, but hei aha, that moemoeā was not to be. Alternatively, I went into public policy and strategy and have now worked in that area for the last 24 years in Aotearoa and overseas.</image:caption>
