Māhutonga Welcomes New Investment Board Members to Guide Future Growth of Whānau Ora
Māhutonga (Whānau Ora Commissioning Agency under Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira) is pleased to announce the appointment of new members to its Investment Board, strengthening governance and bringing a wealth of expertise to guide future investment decisions and strategic direction.
The new Investment Board Members are:
Te Pūoho Kātene, Chair
Kiriwaitingi Rei-Russell
Dr Mara Andrews
Alex Hawea
Chrissie Hape
Kara Puketapu-Dentice
These appointments bring diverse experience across health, education, finance, iwi development, investment strategy, governance, Māori economic development, sustainability and more.
Te Puoho Katene, Chair of Māhutonga, said the appointments mark an important step forward in building strong foundations for sustainable growth.

The Investment Board provides independent governance and oversight of Māhutonga’s investment portfolio, ensuring decisions align with its vision to create enduring intergenerational impact.
By taking a transparent and disciplined approach, the Board helps ensure resources are invested in initiatives that are whānau-led, sustainable, and deliver meaningful outcomes. Working alongside the Māhutonga Board, the Investment Board plays a key role in strengthening wellbeing and resilience for whānau across the region, now and into the future.
